OBAN STORY<\/strong>
\nFine single malt whisky has been made here in Oban for
\nover 200 years, in one of the oldest licensed distilleries in
\nScotland. In effect, the town grew up around the
\ndistillery and since its foundation in 1794 it has played a
\ncrucial role in local life. Oban is the frontier between the
\nWest Highlands and the Islands; the meeting place
\nbetween land and sea.<\/p>\n

In 1883 the unforgettably named J. Walter Higgin bought
\nthe distillery. Between 1890 and 1894 he dismantled and
\nrebuilt it bit by bit, in order to keep it in production – such
\nwas the demand for Oban Single Malt Scotch Whisky. He
\ncarefully replicated the famously small stills and other
\ntraditional features in order to preserve the quality of the
\nwhisky.<\/p>\n

The distillery buildings and their internal arrangements
\nremain almost the same today as they were following
\nHiggin’s refurbishment.<\/p>\n

PERFECT SERVE<\/strong>
\nOban 14 Year Old has a rich sweetness followed by a
\nsmokey dryness that is best appreciated neat or on the
\nrocks.<\/p>\n

\nNose<\/strong>: Rich sweetness and oranges & lemons with sea-salt and
\npeaty smokiness
\nBody<\/strong>: full, rich
\nPalate<\/strong>: Mouth filling, dried figs and honey-sweet spices, followed
\nby a smoky, malty dryness
\nFinish<\/strong>: Long, smooth-sweet finish with oak-wood, dryness and a
