Luna Argenta Prosecco DOC Brut NV, Veneto, Italy: This harmonious and seductive sparkling wine is pale straw yellow in colour and combines soft body with floral notes.

Allan Scott Single Vineyard Moorlands Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Marlborough, New Zealand: Aromatic with lemon citrus and perfumed notes with hints of passion fruit and freshly crushed herbs. The palate is elegant with citrus, passion fruit and dried herbs; the oak influence is delicate and perfectly balanced with the clean refreshing acidity giving this wine a deliciously appealing finish.

Niel Joubert Chardonnay 2015, Paarl, South Africa: Pale with bright yellow reflections. Nose leads with ripe tropical fruit where citrus, melon and pineapple mingle. Hints of vanilla and some floral notes. Lively mouth where the tropical ripe fruit flavours give an impression of sweetness but great acidity gives fine balance. Some stone fruit flavours appear with time in the glass and add complexity. Lively, fruit filled finish.

Blackstone Merlot 2010, California, USA: The wine shows ripe black cherry, plum jam, dark chocolate, and raspberry flavors with hints of vanilla and toasty oak.

Château de Parenchère Bordeaux Superieur 2011, Bordeaux, France: This traditional Parenchere blend is generally very fleshy, very deeply coloured robe. Characterized by a good balance between fruit and tannin, it displays distinct red fruit aromas with a long, sustained finish.

Ricossa Antica Casa Barolo DOCG 2012, Piedmont, Italy: This is a garnet red wine with traditional orange hues. The bouquet is typical of the nebbiolo grape presenting spices, licorice, red fruits, as well as savory notes of toasted caramel. The body is well balanced with an interesting meaty texture from well-orchestrated tannins.

WINES FOR THE EVENING

Pascal Jolivet ‘Attitude’ Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Loire Valley, France: “Attitude” has a beautiful freshness in mouth, a frank attack, delicate green and lemon flavours, citrus fruits, green apple and kiwi aromas. The minerality gives a long finish to the wine, a smoothness and elegance.

De Bortoli Harvest Dairy Semillon Chardonnay 2014, Victoria, Australia: Pale straw with lively green hues colour. Citrus and tropical notes are prominent complement with a hint of oak. This fresh zesty wine is balanced by a creamy mid palate whilst exhibiting up front citrus lemon, stone and tropical fruit flavour.

Saint Clair Premium Pinot Noir 2016, Marlborough, New Zealand: Dark garnet in color with aromas of sun warmed dark berry fruit especially boysenberry and freshly picked blackberries, interlaced with toasted wood notes and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate has flavours of dark berries, blackberry conserve, blueberries and fresh boysenberries combine with freshly ground coffee beans and dark chocolate. A hint of cinnamon spice leads into a savoury finish.

Bodegas Mauro Tempranillo 2013, Castilla y Leon, Spain: Fragrance, discretion and aromatic complexity in a well-delineated wine with a firm structure, suave tannins, and above all, great balance; with crispy and fresh fruit that invites you to enjoy it.

Tenuta San Guido ‘Guidalberto’ IGT Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot 2012, Tuscany, Italy: With an intense ruby-red color, the wine has profound aromas of red and black fruits. On the palate, the wine’s dense structure is balanced and elegant, with a silky presence, relatively low alcohol and noble tannins. In the mouth, this wine is long and persistent.

 Guigal ‘Châteauneuf du Pape’ 2011, Southern Rhône, France: Deep dark red in color with spices and mature red fruits on the nose. The palate shows round tannins with powerful complexity. A rich unctuous wine with notes of mature plums, hazelnuts and red fruits. Very rich wine full of harmony and balance.

SAKE FOR THE EVENING

Ayakiku Junmai Ginjo: The Ayakiku Brewery takes great effort and care to bring out the full flavor of the best sake brewing rice available. Its fresh and elegant taste leaves an impression which will be long remembered. this sake is best enjoyed slightly chilled.

Junmai Koikawa: Soft but deep tasting Junmai. Made with Tsuyahime rice, which provides a very balanced flavor. Winner of the Slow Food Japan gold medal in 2014, with special mention for the unusual versatility: this sake can be served at any temperature and for each one it acquires different notes and characteristics. Even with its slightly higher than usual alcohol content, it remains very easy to drink.

Kilchoman Machir Bay, Isle of Islay, Scotland: The Machir Bay starts with a nose of soft cooked fruits with strong peaty aromas which in turn leads to a palate of mixed fruits and vanilla with an intense sweetness before a long lingering finish.

Kavalan ex-Bourbon Oak Single Malt Whisky, Yilan County, Taiwan: Clean & fresh tropical fruitiness with pleasant vanilla, coconut and spices. Soft, well-balanced natural sweetness, vanilla and oak spices, round and complex with silky smoothness.

Dad’s Hat Rye Whiskey, Pennsylvania, USA: Floral and spicy on the nose with a well-balanced mouth feel and flavor — up-front and back-end spice, cinnamon on the mid-palate. Underlying notes of dried fruit and black cherry with hints of tobacco, vanilla and oak.

Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc Private Bin, 2015 Marlborough New Zealand

This intense Sauvignon Blanc is alive with a myriad of flavours dominated by gooseberry, passion fruit, fresh citrus, melon and herbaceous aromas. The wine has an enticing palate with a juicy flavour profile, purity and concentration, finishing crisp and clean with an interwoven thread of acidity.

Yalumba The Y Series Viognier, 2014 South Australia 

This wine is corn silk in colour with green hues. It expresses aromas of honeysuckle and jasmine, with poached quinces and apricot. The palate includes grapefruit, lemongrass and stone fruit, and the texture adds layers of fruit persistence. The added aging on lees and wild fermentation deliver a rich and silky mid-palate, whilst maintaining its freshness, making it a pleasure to drink. Pairs perfectly with harissa chicken or crispy rice pancakes with potato and chickpeas.

Dr. Loosen Reisling, 2014 Mosel Germany

This estate-grown Riesling showcases the mineral-driven style of the steep, blue slate vineyards in the middle Mosel. It comes from parcels owned by Dr. Loosen in the villages of Bernkastel, Graach and Wehlen. It is bright and vibrant with the classic white peach fruit and floral, flinty minerality that is so typical of this terroir. This wine makes an elegant aperitif and is an excellent match for seafood and spicy Asian cuisine.

Gaja Ca’Marcanda Promis Toscana IGT, 2013 Tuscany Italy

A delightful wine that combines elegance and suppleness of Merlot and Syrah with the austerity of Sangiovese. Balanced and approachable in its youth with considerable aging potential of 5 to 8 years.

Montes Alpha Merlot, 2013 Colchagua Valley Chile

Handsome ruby-red color. Outstanding nose of red berries, black cherry, black pepper, with hints of tobacco. These elements come through on the palate, revealing a full-bodied wine. Mid-palate is round and velvety, with an added touch of vanilla and toast, followed by a long and smooth finish.

 Chateau Ste Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 Columbia Valley USA

The aromas offer notes of boysenberry, herb and barrel spices, with the Syrah blended in (11%) showing itself. The blue and black fruit flavours are lush and fruit forward, with soft tannins, a silky mouth feel and a sustained sense of balance. It drinks best at a cool 62 degrees. Fresh and expressive, deftly balanced and juicy, with raspberry and cherry flavours supported by hints of cinnamon and pepper. The finish persists against nubby tannins.

Masi Levarie Soave Classico DOC 2014, Veneto, Italy

Pale straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. Good intensity on the nose with hints of flowers and tropical fruit, particularly pineapple. On the palate, a refreshing acidity is well balanced by creaminess with melon and ripe pear flavours. Ideally served as an aperitif or with hors d’oeuvres, soups, pasta or simple rice dishes with Mediterranean flavours or with fish dishes.

Chateau de Parenchere Superieur Bordeaux Blanc 2015, Bordeaux, France

This blend contributes directly to the balance of the wine. The Sauvignon produces aromatic strength and freshness, while the Semillon complements this with a certain degree of roundness on the palate. The Muscadelle adds intense white flower notes to the aromatic range of the finished wine. A white wine with intense white and citrus fruit aromas, which is both fresh and round on the palate.

Selbach ‘Incline’ Riesling 2015, Mosel, Germany

Vinified in stainless steel, with just a hint of residual sugar, this wine vividly represents all that Mosel wine should be – Fruity with vibrant acidity, clarity, and precision; all highlighted by intense slate-driven minerality. Fresh-tasting, with snappy green apple and ripe citrus flavours flanked by plenty of savoury and herbal notes. Lemon drop accents show on the finish

Allan Scott ‘Hound’ Pinot Noir 2015, Marlborough, New Zealand

Hints of cherries, black plums and a maple on the nose. The ripe and sumptuous concentrated fruit is supported by subtle notes of oak. The wine finishes very smoothly with refined ripe, light tannins providing structure and a smooth silky long flavourful finish. Aged for 12 months in new French Oak.

Torres Altos Ibericos Tempranillo 2013, Rioja, Spain

Opaque cherry red. Rich cherry, black plum jam aromas with spicy green peppercorn and smoky notes. Intense, warm, with firm tannins nicely structured by oak aging and a backbone of subtle fruit acidity. Excellent with all kinds of tapas prepared with fresh ingredients; red meat, oil-rich fish and cheeses. Exquisite with cured pork.

Rolf Binder ‘Halliwell’ Shiraz Grenache 2013, Barossa Valley, Australia

The bouquet of this wine is filled with the abundance of berry fruit. The subtle use of both old and new oak combined with soft tannins comes through on the palate. Strong full bodied characters last right through to the back of the palate and linger. The wine boasts of ripe fruit characters.

Pighin Pinot Grigio DOC. 2015,  Friuli Grave, Italy – Straw yellow with lightly amber-coloured tinges in color with fruity and floral aromas including banana, pineapple and wisteria flowers. Persistent, excellent body and correct balance.

Château de Parenchère Cuvée Raphaël AOC 2011, Bordeaux, France – A very dense, very concentrated wine with elegant tannins that stand out, but are mellow and smooth. They are elegantly      woody, but not excessively to leave plenty of room for the fruit.

Prunotto Barolo DOCG 2012, Piedmont, Italy – Garnet red in colour with ample and complex aromas of violets and berry fruit, full and velvety in flavor and very balanced. Its structure and body make it an ideal match for meat and game dishes and for cheese.

Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Napa Valley, USA – Deep, enticing wild berry and black currant fruit weaves harmoniously with layers of fragrant tobacco leaf, forest floor and toast in a complex ribbon of flavor that flows into a deliciously long finish in this powerful yet refined taste of Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot.

Casablanca Vino Spumante NV, Nasik, India: Pale straw color revealing its fresh and young character. A generous fruity nose of kiwi and grape fruit layered with lime and floral undertones.  Light bodied. On the palate reminiscent of pear and green apple with a predominant acidic structure.

Bertani Soave Classico 2015, Veneto, Italy: Greenish yellow in colour, this white boasts a light nose exuding floral and fruity aromas. Discover this dry, fruity and light-bodied wine expressing lively acidity and offering a slender texture. It also unveils a light mouthfeel that leads into a short finish.

Fratelli Chardonnay 2016, Akluj, India: Straw coloured with light green reflections, the wine has citrus aromas of orange and lemon with subtle notes of white flowers. On the palate, Fratelli Chardonnay exemplifies great balance. It reflects the freshness and minerality of the sandy soils it is grown on. An east-west sun exposure ensures proper ripeness and thus, good acidity. The use of French oak lends roundness and buttery notes on the finish. Elegance and structure combine together to make for a delicious wine that does justice to the varietal.

Casillero del Diablo Reserva Chardonnay 2016, Casablanca, Rapel & Limari, Chile: Light lemon yellow with expressive and attractive aromas of pineapple, citrus, and vanilla. This elegant wine is balanced with bright acidity and a long, memorable finish.

Grover’s La Reserve Blanc 2015, Nasik, India: La Réserve Blanc is aged in French oak barrels, with the fragrant notes of honeysuckle, apricot and pineapple. Rich and powerful with a long persistence, it finishes on tropical fruit, citrus and soft oak notes.

Le Grand Noir GSM 2015, Minervois, Languedoc Roussillon, France: A lively Grenache-Syrah-Mouvedre with prominent notes of black cherry, blackberry, dark plum with hints of cloves and black pepper. Well structured, medium bodied with gentle tannins.

Dona Paula Malbec 2016, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina: Intense purplish red color. Sweet, spicy and intense aromas, with notes of red fruits and herbs (such as Herbes de Provence). In the mouth, this wine is soft, velvety, fresh, and well balanced.

Sula Rasa Shiraz 2015, Nasik, India: It is a complex wine, with power and finesse. Crafted from handpicked grapes from our own estate vineyards, Rasa Shiraz is aged for 12 months in premium French oak barrels and then further matured in the bottle before release. The wine is drinking beautifully now, opulent and lush, with supple tannins and a peppery finish.

Reveilo Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2014, Nasik, India: Barrel aged in French oak, the bouquet of this wine is exceptionally intense. The fruity notes of cherry, raspberry and blueberry are enriched with the spicy notes of pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. On the plate, the structure is extremely full. The body is velvety and harmonious.

Swiss – Indian Wine Tasting

De Mauler, Cuvée de Réserve Brut 2000, Môtiers Neuchâtel, Switzerland: Elegant, mellow yellow robe. Fresh fruits dominated by roasted notes of grilled bread. Full bodied with a beautiful, harmonious structure and very fine pearls.

Badoux Aigle les Murailles 2013, Vaud Chablais, Switzerland: Beautiful lemon yellow. Fine and delicate on the nose, with aromas evoking lime blossom, minerality and chalky character typical of the gypsum veined soil. The palate is elegant and fruity, with flavors of mango, linden flowers, accompanied by a subtle mineral touch.

Reveilo Grillo 2017, Nasik, India: The wine greets you with a bouquet of citrus, lemon, orange and grapefruit. It is a medium bodied wine with crisp acidity and a long mineral after taste.

Dézaley de l’Evêque Grand Cru AOC 2015, Vaud Lavaux, Switzerland: Complex nose of floral aromas. A soft attack on the palate with strong mineral expression. Full body with flavors of toasted almonds and caramelized apples. Balanced and harmonious.

Fratelli Vitae Chardonnay 2015, Akluj, India: The wine has notes of brioche, vanilla and butter on the nose while the palate is clean with a distinguished minerality, notes of tangerine and citrus, completed by a long finish at the end.

Domaine Les Perrières Cabernet Sauvignon, Peissy Genève AOC 2017, Geneva, Switzerland: Dark red with cherry and blackcurrant on the nose with coffee, gingerbread, blackcurrant and elderberries on the palate.

Sula Cabernet Shiraz 2017, Nasik, India: A smooth, medium-bodied red wine accentuated by ripe cherry and plum notes, black pepper aromas and soft, silky tannins.

San Domenico Merlot del Malcantone Ticino DOC 2013, Malcantone, Switzerland: Deep garnet red with aromas of wild berries and sour cherries, spice and light vanilla notes. Full-bodied, delicious, warm and harmonious, soft and well-integrated tannins.

Charosa Reserve Tempranillo 2014, Nasik, India: Dark ruby red in color, this wine is filled with rich coconut, vanilla, chocolate and raspberry aromas. A medium-bodied wine which has an excellent concentration of warm red fruit flavors like raspberry, strawberry and plum, distinctly ripe and fleshy. Well-balanced with a perfectly round and soft finish.
